Get Your Masters

“The master in the art of living

makes little distinction between his work and his play,

his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body,

his information and his recreation, his love and his religion.

He hardly knows which is which.

He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does,

leaving others to decide whether his is working or playing.

To him, he’s always doing both.”

Magic Penny

Love is something if you give it away,
Give it away, give it away.
Love is something if you give it away,
You end up having more.

It’s just like a magic penny,
Hold it tight and you won’t have any.
Lend it, spend it, and you’ll have so many
They’ll roll all over the floor.”

“Magic Penny” – Malvina Reynolds

this song from my childhood came to mind as I thought about giving  (away)

something I love for Lent.

What’s so precious to us that we can’t seem to let go –

that thing or habit that really doesn’t serve us, but we spend a lot of time serving?

Think about it – does it have any real worth?

does it deserve all the focus we give it?

Take the challenge – from today until March 28th,

lend it, spend it

don’t hold tight to it –

let it go,

and on Easter morning, see if you feel more renewed, more awakened by

having had the strength and the trust to let it go –

rolling all over the floor, knowing it

doesn’t have a hold on you.

I’m giving away sweets.

Wear What Matters

Check our egos at the door,

so we may wear what matters inside.

In tonight’s Super Bowl performance, Lady Gaga championed the lyrics of another’s song and humbly accepted the honor of singing her country’s national anthem.

Lady Gaga,

you wear your humility

like your wear your costuming and sing your songs –

“I have to live up to a song that stands the test of time. I think the best way to do that is to kind of forget about yourself and just focus on what it [The National Anthem] means”

– Lady Gaga
